There’s a good way and bad way to collect ad revenue. So many of your posts take me to a site saying the FBI wants Starbucks gift cards or I’m in trouble with persistent popups on every event. Disappointed

My first thought is making sure the ads are from a reputable source. The old source seemed to have some questionable stuff; gift card scam and trying to open the App Store. I mostly browse on a phone so I see the mobile site. You could place an ad in the main page every third item. Another choice would be to show a short ad video on the click through to the content. You could have a web page that shows an ad then forwards to the content after 5 seconds or whatever your advertisers need. You could change the layout of the mobile site to show short, full width banner ads in between each article like article, ad, article, ad.
My last thought is when the page loads show a lightbox with an ad asking visitors to click through and open the ad in a new page.
One last thought. There are a lot of click throughs to other sites. Maybe getting images and videos to show on your own site would give you control of ads and then the users could click through to the vendor’s site. A cheap CDN could help keep your hosting costs down if you’re paying for bandwidth.
